Time Out For Women

I just spent last night and all day today at Time Out for Women at the Phoenix Civic Plaza. I went with Aleia and her Aunts, Colleen and Michelle. We really had a good time. The talks and the music was spectacular.
Michael McLean was there and was very entertaining. He is so talented and has so much to give to others. If you haven't seen the "Forgotten Carols" it will be at Gammage this Dec. Tickets go on sell pretty soon. It is really good with some great music. I went up to him after his break and got his autograph for Aleia. Her cousin was there and took a picture of him with me. I told him that Aleia loved his music and work but she was shy. He waved to her and motioned for her to come over. She got to meet him and her cousin took a picture of them. She will send it to Aleia and maybe she will post it. He is a really nice man and was very caring.
Friday night Michael Wilcox spoke on "How Many Is One?" One can make a difference and when put with another one is even stronger. In the movie "The Wizard Of Oz," remember when the wicked witch is melting after Dorothy threw water on her. She said, 'Oh what a world, what a world, that ONE little girl could destroy all my wickedness!" One little act can make a difference and simple little acts can bring God's blessing.
Jason Deere performed with some really neat country style songs about Joseph Smith. One was very touching to me.
On Saturday Carolyn Rasmus spoke on "Simplify!" She has a book out on it. "The adversary will keep us busy with a multitude of trivial things so that we won't focus on the things that make the difference."
Jenny Jordan Frogley performed and is an excellent singer and musician.
Camille Fronk Olsen spoke on "Woman To Woman." It was mainly about sisters in the scriptures and how we could relate to them.
Merrilee Boyack Spoke on "Wifehood 101: Five Things You Need to Know. Ask yourself 1) Do your children stay in the main area of your home after 9:00 P.M.? Husband and Wife's need time together alone. 2) Do you go out with your husband at least three times a month alone? 3) Have you been away overnight at least once a year? 4) When was the last time you bought your husband a treat instead of your children? 5) When it is just the two of you talking is 50% of your talking about the children? I think there is a lot more in her book to learn from.
Dean Hughes told us about his summer playing Mr. Mom. Life is not a contest but we act like it is. The Lord cares about our Christlike qualities. The life we have left, we need to try to become more like Christ.
All in all this conference filled my cup and now I can make it a few more days, months, or until next year.
We need to hear good talks and music to left us and help us make it through each day. Life is tough and we will be tried. We need to become strong and have Faith in the Lord. Maybe next year all of us can go and be lifted a little higher.

Oh yeah, Women's Conference in Provo is the first part of May. Who wants to go? It sure was fun the last time we went. I'm game if any of you are!!!! If we're going we need to start thinking about it, especially for the hotel. Let me know.

Check out Linda's blog. She finally posted and there is a cute picture of her and Mike.

I think we should all just plan on next year time out for women in the valley and not go to Utah. Get Sariah and Heather here and it willl save alot of $. We could still have a slumber party at a hotel for those of us who could or who would want to.

Sounds so fun. I've actually been reading Merilee Boyacks book this week ("Strangling your Husband is Not an Option"). I've learned some interesting things!...oh and I vote YES on Connie's idea!
